  This is the best lock out there in my experience. We had 2 bags that were checked in at the Johannesburg airport. Someone tried to get into both bags. They easily broke one of our brand new locks which was a different model. We found that other lock inside its ravaged suitcase (and many items were stolen from that bag). By contrast, this particular Master Lock had numerous cut marks on it, but it held up well and did not break.   Great price and worked on a trip to Italy thru several TSA checkpoints

  Great price thru Amazon. We used a few of these on a recent trip. I don't know if the TSA guys used their master key to unlock them but they came thru trouble free.   Master Cable Lock

  I have an application for an airline travel lock where a standard long shank padlock is not practical to use, but this cable lock works fine. I actually have two of these locks and have used both of them twice for air travel and thus far they have worked as advertised.   Peace Of Mind For My Road Trip/Back-Packing Vacation

  This review refers to Master Lock 646T 2 PackThese locks worked great for my purposes. That is locking my luggage left in motel rooms while on a recent road trip. I did not want to have to worry about my laptop or other valuables while away from my room for hours at a time. Nice also that two came for a good price as I used the other for backpacking excursions. With two outside zippers on my backpack containing my cell phone and wallet I did not have to fret about pickpockets or keep feeling in back of me to make sure it was still zipped up.I loved also that I didn't have to worry about where to put those little tiny keys that come with other locks.It was very easy to set my on combinations(3 numbers) - directions were included. I tested them several times before locking up my stuff and never had any problems opening or locking them.They seem sturdy and durable.   Garbage

  I was excited when these arrived. Small, but look much more solid than other luggage type locks. The first lock I opened was somewhat aggravating. When you try to lock it again, the key must be turned to the unlock position otherwise it will not seat all the way in to lock. The second lock I opened came apart literally in my hands. The key pulled the entire internal lock mechanism out. With it, all of the key pins fell all over the floor. Absolute garbage. Would not recommend for even the slightest bit of security. 1/5 S.   A WASTE OF MONEY

  I just got these locks today, and as soon as I took them out of the package they literally fell apart. I tried to unlock them ('cause they came locked), and a lot of small pieces started falling off.   Decent lock with disappointing design flaw

  The lock works ok as a way to help secure travel luggage. The indicator is a nice feature to tell if the bag has been opened by the TSA as they sometimes don't leave an inspection card when they open a bag.However, the lock does have a design flaw that doesn't particularly make any sense. The red flag can be reset both by opening the lock with the right combination, and by pressing a reset button on the outside.   Mixed results

  The lock works very well as a lock. The combination is quite easy to change to whatever code you choose. When I got the lock, one of the first things I did was follow the instructions to test the red indicator that shows if it was opened by the TSA. Everything worked fine. On my return flight, the indicator remained down, showing that the lock was not opened. However, when I got home and opened the suitcase, I found an inspection card inside from the TSA. I tried to test the red indicator as before, but could not get the indicator to pop up as it should. It's not so expensive that I think it is worth the time to bother trying to get a replacement instead of simply buying a new one whenever I decide to fly again, but I am a bit disappointed.   Good theft deterrent, but not very secure

  I recently traveled internationally and had to check 3 bags so I figured a 4-pack of TSA-approved, keyed alike Master locks was my best bet. I'm constantly unlocking and relocking my luggage because I always relock my luggage before leaving the hotel room, so having one key open all of my luggage was very convenient. My only complaint is that these locks aren't as secure as I'd expected from a keyed Master lock. Two security-related reasons that influenced me to purchase these locks are: 1) Master is well known for making quality locks. 2) I wanted keyed lock because I figured it's harder for someone to pick a keyed lock than it is for someone to roll through the combinations. To make a long story short, I accidentally lock the key inside my luggage. That's when I realized the drawback of having one key for 3 bags.   TSA approved

  Recently received my locks and had the chance to use them. I was asked by TSA agent if I had locks on my luggage? My reply was "yes,approved by TSA"Agent replied "great we can handle that if needed ". Upon arriving at my destination hotel,I unlocked/opened my luggage. Inside one was a tag from TSA saying my bag was opened and inspected. Lock was replaced on luggage. I really felt secure that I was able to lock my checked luggage and would have no issues/problems with TSA if needed to be opened. Wish I knew sooner that these locks were available from Master Lock.   Good - but buy more...

  Very easy to set the combination and fit our filmgear pelicases very well. They withstand the rigours of travel - US and international - very well and I've never had one lost thru handling anywhere in the world. Sadly, TSA are not so rigorous at fitting them back on a case after checking - and they check our bags all the time. So I have to travel with several spares, preset to the combination.The red color stands out well and makes the padlock easier to find in a cramped hotel room during packing, when all the gear is scattered around the floor.In the past I've had types with rigid locks instead of this flexible cable type - they got knocked off the cases almost every trip - these ones can take a hit and have a little 'give' so withstand baggage handling much better.We travel every couple of weeks - so these have had a pretty good field test - most recently in Germany, Sweden, England, Spain, Denmark and Italy. One to use and the second to test...During the test I found that if you try to use wire cutters on the wire, you will be twisting and gripping your hardest for at least a good 10 minutes just to get through. My next test was the sledge hammer. I nailed this lock repeatedly. All I did was jame the rollers so that the numbers could not be moved anymore. But still the lock NEVER let go.Get this lock.   sturdy little lock

  I purchased two of these locks for a five-week trip through several countries, and they both withstood being dragged about and opened frequently fairly well. I like the combination feature because it kept me from having to keep track of a key. I never felt like my locks were in danger of breaking.the lock on my suitcase, which was opened about once a day, did not suffer any damage (other than some paint chipping), but the one on my backpack, which was opened many times a day, did start to show some wear where the cable attaches to the lock. the plastic coating over the cable started to come loose and created kind of a kink in the cable.   This is a good cable to help avoid casual theft. It's lightweight and someone would have to use wire cutters to get through the cable or the lock. This is best described as an insurance policy to keep honest people honest, and to give a thief pause. Inside of airport security, I only really use it to secure our carryon bags with cameras, ipods, etc. and my wife's purse. Those are small and concealable. We don't feel the need to lock down the rollaboard. I regurlarly use it on everyhting when in bus or train terminals. I used the inside cable to lock in a gun safe and the outside loop and actual lock through the two zippers on the outside of the suitcase. (The suitcase also has a TSA lock thus giving double protection to frustrate any dishonest baggage handler).If you don't have outside locks this item will work to secure your belongings on any zippered to close suitcase. No worries about the TSA breaking it either.   These locks are great. They are very secure for the size. THEY DO CHANGE COMBINATION PROPERLY and easily. It makes me mad when someone bad mouths a good product due to insufficient understanding. I bought (3) of these already and they set no problem; the other reviewer was not following the correct procedure. To be fair, the manufacturer instructions leave out the detail that you have to press down very firmly after the first rotation.To set a new combo:Turn it to 0 0 0,Turn shackle 90 degrees CCW,Push shackle down FIRMLY and hold down (it feels like there are 2 positions, you must press firmly to the 2nd "deeper" position)Rotate 90 degrees CCW WHILE HOLDING DOWN ALL THE WAY (you will have the shackle 180 degrees CCW from where you started),Change lock combo,Rotate shackle CW 90 degrees,Lift shackle,Rotate shackle CW 90 degrees and use. 5/5 M.   Great locks

  We bought these locks for a trip to Asia, and even after the bags were tossed about in several airports the locks were still in great shape. Easy to set, and they hold securely. There is no danger that the locks will be cut off, as they are TSA approved. The combination-set system is better than a keyed system as you never have to wonder what you did with the key. Just write down the combination on a piece of tape when you get home, stick it to the lock, and there it is to remind you when it's time for the next trip.   Works as advertised...

  I bought these for a recent trip to Washington. The locks were intact when I received my bags from the claim, yet TSA did leave cards indicating that my bags had been hand-searched.
