About this book
Shelley Seale and Keith Hajovsky are self-professed world nomads, who travel just about any time and place they have the opportunity - and usually for free, or very close to it. Between the two of them, they have visited more than 50 countries and logged millions of miles. Are you tired of the conventional wisdom which says that you have to spend a lot of money to travel the world? Do you want to learn how two well-traveled vagabonds have managed to do it for decades, as well as the travel-cheap insights they have accumulated over many years of gallivanting around the globe? There are many travel resources and guidebooks out there that tell you how to travel on the cheap, how to save money, how to get the best airfares. The authors have read and used many of them, and there are lots of good ones around. How To Travel For Free (or pretty damn near it!) is different in that in these pages, Seale and Hajovsky share their own personal resources and experiences to show ways in which you can travel not just cheaply, but for free - or damn close to it!If you or someone you know wants to learn how to see and experience the world without the need to have or to spend large amounts of money like so many in the travel industry will have you believe, then buy this book now and start your own personal journey toward your dreams of independent travel freedom!

    OK

So I bought this air pillow after seeing all the positive reviews. I agree with the reviewers on a couple of things: the inflatable factor is very important while travelling so I dont have to carry a bulky load with me, this pillow is very easy to inflate (few light blows of air is all it takes) and deflate (the "on" button works like magic) as well as to fold and put away in its soft carry case.My gripes however are with the comfort factor. I feel it doesn't support my neck quite enough on the sides, and i wish it had a way to hold the two ends of the "U" shape together. I feel like I have to lean against something just to hold the pillow on my neck, since it will otherwise fall off, and that could be prevented if the ends clipped together around my neck. Also, the behind-head inflation is too wide to rest your head back on a flight seat, so i had to wear it with the ends behind my head to get it to work. I mostly need support on the sides of my head above my shoulders, so the... 3/5 Proud Owner (New York) - See all my reviews This review is from: Lewis N. Works great and comfortable too!

Works great, a couple breaths into the valve and it's fully inflated. A small button inside the valve quickly releases air to adjust for comfort or completely exhaust it.It also folds compactly, has it's own soft case and does not take up much room in a carry-on. Very comfortable, not as comfy as a memory foam pillow but not as expensive or massively bulky as one either. Good price so no worries if it gets damaged or lost. Both my wife and I found it very pleasant to use on long flights. We no longer take long trips without comfort accessories. We used to just bear it and deal with the discomfort and were just so drained at the end but take just one trip with a neck pillow, your own blanket, a travel pillow (for your head or lumbar support), soft eye shades and some ear plugs and/or a noise-canceling headphone set and you will never just bear it again. Really takes the edge off and you will feel much more energized and ready to roll when you get to your... 5/5 J. Knight "Physical Quantum Mechanic" (Atlanta) - See all my reviews, April 3, 2008

    Supportive and compact--good stuff!

This is surprisingly easy to inflate, deflates pretty easily as well, and fits easily into its travel pouch, though I can never get it into the same shape as it was when it came to me. I used this in the car and slept well and comfortably for hours (not while driving, of course). I then took it onto a plane and found that it was great for most of the ride, but I had to re-inflate it a little bit a few times once we began our descent. It never lost any air during my lengthy car ride, so I suspect that the change in cabin prssure is what kept affecting it. If I'd decided to leave it at the level to which it had deflated, it still would have been completely fine, and for some people, just the level of cushion they want. I happen to like it being completely full of air and firm, though, and because it didn't stay so, this gets 4 stars from me instead of 5. Had I never flown, though, and only driven with it, 5 stars it would have been.If you plan to use that little button... 4/5 N. Austin (NY, NY) - See all my reviews, April 26, 2008

    Nice and comfy...

I recently used this pillow on a 2-week trip on 8 plane flights and it performed wonderfully. The bite valve is a common one; if you haven't used it before it could be frustrating. Just pinch the valve at the base to blow in or to release the air. You can see a flap inside the valve so you may have to rotate your pinch a 1/4 turn to fully open it. Press down with the other hand while pinching the valve and it deflates easily. I roll it up and put a rubber band around it to travel with. Also, do not inflate it fully at first. As the plane ascends, the pillow will puff up even more. The bladder itself seems a little thin compared to other inflatable pillows that I've had and I'm afraid it would pop if inflated too fully at first. Also, I find that a slightly deflated pillow is often more comfortable if the airplane seat is too tall, so your head isn't tilted too far forward. The fabric on the outside it very soft and well-sewn. I would buy it again. 4/5 Lauren Goyen (Eagle, CO USA) - See all my reviews, November 17, 2011

    So soft and comfy

I should start by saying that I have only tried this at home so I haven't really used it for travel yet. I will update this review after I come back from the holidays.I have to admit that it took me a few minutes to figure out what to do to inflate it quickly. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong. Well, apparently, you have to press the bottom of the valve to open the anti-leak thingy. There are no instructions so I'll blame it on that :) Once I managed to inflate it, I tested it out on my couch and it seemed very soft and comfortable and it even has a little pocket for your mp3 player. Be aware though that some people might not be able to get it on them if they inflate it too much since the neck opening is sort of small.Update:So after using this pillow on a long flight and its wonderful! I really like it and would highly recommend it! Easy to inflate and deflate! 5/5 Bookworm (MN) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Very hard to inflate and deflate

The pillow is reasonably comfortable when inflated, but the point of an inflatable pillow is that it can be deflated for easy storage when not in use. It was a bit hard to inflate. We still have not gotten either of our two pillows to fully deflate. Maybe there is a trick, but there are no instructions. Pulling out the tab and pushing on the pillow has almost no effect. 3/5 CA Dreamer - See all my reviews This review is from: Samsonite Luggage Inflatable Neck Pillow with Cover (Misc.) Well Worth Buying, but has a few flaws

My wife and I bought two of these for plane travel based on the glowing reviews. The concept was pretty compelling, and I have to say that the pillow works almost as well as advertised.***UPDATE***This product deserves a minimum of 4 stars. My original review failed to take into account some additional ways to use the pillow effectively.First off, the excellent:1. The pillow is very easy to inflate, and only takes 3-4 puffs of air depending on your lungs. It is also very easy to deflate, rolls up, and takes up a minimum of space in your carry on bag.2. The pillow is comfortable enough for an inflatable. It is covered in a soft faux velvet that doesn't irritate the skin or cause discomfort due to pressure points. You can make it even more comfortable with a small cotton pillow or even by putting a cotton pillow case over it, if you prefer that.3. When it used properly it will support your head and neck very well and will... 4/5 Nathan Beauchamp "ConsumerAdvocate" (Oak Park, IL USA) - See all my reviews, April 2, 2009

    Love the Pillow!

My wife and I are currently in Rome having just flown from LA. I am a terrible sleeper on planes and always wake up from trying to sleep with a stiff neck. I saw the reviews here on Amazon and thought I would try this pillow out (I also bought one for my wife). On the plane we felt a little silly blowing them up and strapping them to the back of our seats (our planes had video players on the back of them, so we had to strap them on the groove that runs along the top of the seat where the built-in-pillow meats the seat. That worked just fine). After we started using them, however, we didn't care what they looked like. Now, I am not going to lie and say it felt like sleeping on a bed or anything like that, but it was a huge improvement over U-pillows. I still had a hard time sleeping (because I do not like flying very much), but at least now I had a comfortable neck. If I were a more relaxed flyer, I would have slept well. The thing I like the best is that it offer a stable place to... 5/5 jtskier1200r (Pasadena, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: TravelRest - The Travel Pillow Reinvented - Blue (Kitchen) My wife and I are currently in Rome having just flown from LA. WOW - Finally a device that makes sense!!!!!!!

This pillow is A-MAZE-ING! I did 310,000K miles last year in the air and have the bad back and neck to prove it. This year...I got smart and ordered the TravelRest Pillow for my treks and trips. The device is simply wonderful. I use it all the time not only on long flights to aid in my sleep and comfort but at home too. It's a great pillow to form around the body to hold a laptop or reading material. I also like it when folks stop me or reach over on a flight and ask me "where did you get that cool pillow".Thanks TravelRest!!!!!!!!!JYerton 5/5 Joel Yerton "JYerton" (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews, November 20, 2008

    Nice and compact

The biggest problem with these inflatable type neck braces is that the vibration from the airplane gets transmitted through them and can actually sound louder. Obviously from the price this isn't a real high end neck rest. Some other reviewers had trouble blowing it up, but the problem is you have to squeeze the inflation tube slightly at the base because it has a little check valve. Same is true to deflate it. It is just like filling a beach ball. 4/5 Michael Gasperi - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Holds up pretty good...

Ok so I'm in the military and I bought one of these... it compresses into the size of about a campbells condensed can of tomato soup, you can't even tell you have it when it comes to weight. The pillow is pretty comfortable for what it is, it's not like it's a memory foam pillow. Its a little smaller then I'm use to but it's better then not having one. As for leaks, mine started to leak about three months in to the tour. It doesn't bother me tho cause it holds enough through the night and it only takes like 2-3 breathes to fill it back up before I goto bed. A Must for Camping / Military Use

If you have spent much time in places where you had to sleep somewhere other than a bed, you already know that its much nicer to have a pillow than to sleep on a balled up jacket or shirt. Amazing Pillow!

I purchased this pillow expressly for a recent trip from California to Florida and back again. In the past, sleeping on a plane was virtually impossible for me, regardless of how exhausted I was, due to the lack of comfort with the travel pillows that I was using. I would have the worst head and neck ache after my flights, so I decided that I was not going to be miserable on my upcoming flight, and decided to do some research on travel pillows, finding this one on Amazon.com. The overall rating (5 stars) and the price appealed to me, so I placed my order.Having been disappointed with the other pillows that I have purchased in the past (4 total), I didn't set my expectations to high. Well, I am so happy to say that, boy, was I wrong! Here's my review of the pillow:1. Love, love, love the fact that it is covered in such a nice, soft material! Doesn't make my neck hot and sweaty!2. It was remarkable how it held my head on both sides and allowed me to... 5/5 Happy Traveler - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This pillow is amazing

I was looking for a comfortable, no-fuss pillow for planes, trains, etc (anywhere where I can sleep) and I got exactly what I wanted with this pillow. The cover is soft cotton and the pillow has a flat back portion so my head doesn't move from side to side like with other ones. I can inflate and deflate it easily to take with me every time I travel. Great pillow for anyone planning to travel comfortably. 5/5 L. Too small for my neck

i used it once only, and it was not so helpful.if you have long neck, then this is not the pillow for you 2/5 Basil Farhan "Basil Saif" (Dubai, NA United Arab Emirates) - See all my reviews, March 18, 2012
Personally tested on various cross-Atlantic flights, unmatched in it's class!
Excellent neck support design keeps neck in position while resting.
Handy carrying pouch for easy storage.
Soft-touch micro fleece outer texture with cloth cover
Inflates in 3-4 breaths, deflates in seconds. (Tip: Squeeze valve when blowing for easier inflating!)

    just what I wanted

I've been looking for an inflatable travel neck pillow for awhile. None of them looked comfortable or soft. I bought this in person, not on Amazon. Most of the removable cover is fleece, except a patch of CoolMax fabric which I guess you could use on your cheek-side if you get too hot (which I don't, so I used the fleece side on my cheek). It fit me well and actually was most comfortable when less-than-completely inflated. I was able to sleep (comfortably)on a transcontinental flight, which was a first for me.The only problem is that it was tricky to inflate (old-style pinch-the-nozzle-while-you-exhale), but I was ultimately able to. Deflating it is tricky as well and takes a bit of time, so I think it will just stay inflated most of the time (defeating the whole purpose, I know), but I could definitely deflate it if needed. 4/5 smoothie lover (Madison, WI United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Travel Smart Neck Rest, Inflatable with CoolMax (Health and Beauty) I've been looking for an inflatable travel neck pillow for awhile. Comfortable, Compact, Affordable

I purchased this for my partner, but we both agree it works perfect. He uses it while on long flights to Europe. He likes that it is inflatable, so it can easily be deflated and put into his carry-on. He also agreed that it was comfortable, and it does not make your neck too hot. When I use it, I don't infate it all the way, I find it's most comfortable when it is almost completely inflated. Overall it was great purchase! 5/5 JTS (Madison, WI) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Hard to inflate

This travel pillow is comfortable...once you manage to get it inflated. However, it is very difficult to inflate due to the tiny blow-up valve. I do not recommend this product for that reason. 1/5 Amazon Sam (New England) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great travel pillow BUT

I really wish it would have that anti leak valve, By the time I blew it up and try to cap it, lost lots of air. 3/5 Keith W. Seibert "Cybernet" (Ohio) - See all my reviews, July 29, 2011
