  Great Educational Product for Kids & Adults Alike!

  We purchased both the world and USA maps to hang in the kids' playroom and they were a really great purchase; quite large, very strong and laminated so we can draw out our trips in dry erase markers which the kids just love to do. It was very important to me to find laminated for this purpose and most were VERY expensive - these were dirt cheap by comparison and we are quite impressed with the quality so far. We wanted something to help teach our kids geography both world & USA (as well as help us remember what we have forgotten from school)and so far these maps have been educational & fun. The kids cannot wait until the next season of The Amazing Race begins (which is what prompted me to purchase these maps in the first place), so we can map out the teams' route and visually "see" where they are traveling. The only problem we have had is that the USA map arrived quite mangled and could not be hung flat on a wall. Amazon customer service couldn't have been nicer. They sent us an... 5/5 K.   Good Product, but poor delivery by AMZN

  Great Product, updated to reflect recent geopolitical changes. However, the box that AMZN shipped the rolled up map in broke in half while in UPS's possession, crumpling up the rolled up map completely. In true form to AMZN's great service, a replacement was sent along as a return postage for the damaged map. Unfortunately, the replacement was sent in the same exact type of packaging and broke in UPS's possession again! The second time, the damage was not nearly as bad, leaving only one small crease in the map, so I decided to just keep it.   Great for the price

  This is a pretty nice map for the price. It's thinner than I expected and it has plastic strips across the top and bottom to give it some rigidity. The "lamination" is more like a plastic coating than what I would expect after reading "laminated map." Overall, I think its great for less than $12 shipped. Delivery was very fast and it came in a triangular shipping tube. The map itself was only protected inside this tube by plastic wrap...so it bounced around during shipping causing some slight crinkles at the edges, but the map arrived in reasonably good shape. If the map were enclosed in a tighter fitting plastic tube, which was then put in the shipping container, there would be zero damage during shipment. Oh well.   This is a great map because for nearly every country, there is at least one icon of something famous from the area - an animal, building, person, plant, etc. This gives an extra level of geographical information that most maps don't provide, but it also makes it easy for kids to learn countries through association. I bought this map a couple of weeks ago and it's been on my 5 year old's wall since then - he learns a new country or two every night, and the associations make it easy. For example, he knows Norway has a viking ("that's a bad guy") in it, and when I ask where Spain is, he says "there's a bull fighter in Spain" and goes right to it.   I researched children's maps carefully. I didn't want something inaccurate, or filled with tacky, sexist, or violent images of other cultures. This map has hundreds of fun details, but it's tasteful and intelligent. It also includes rivers, mountains, borders, and other detailed information, not just major capitals like on some maps.The paper is very thick, and nicely glossy.   Beautiful but hard to frame

  The map is gorgeous--the colors make the countries very easy to differentiate. The details include not only geographic features but also topographical. I especially also like that this map already included a note about South Sudan becoming a country on 9 July 2011--even though the border hadn't been drawn in yet. The only drawback is that the map is 46"x30". This is a very large and odd size to try and frame. It would cost hundreds to frame properly. If I had to do it over again, I would have bought a more standard sized poster, such as 30"x24". It would have been smaller, but at least I could frame it affordably. 3/5 K.   The map itself is decent. Nice colors, good labeling. However, I did not expect plastic brackets on the top and bottom (to help with hanging and laying flat).What really frustrated me was the shipping. It was shipped in two plastic bags, that's it. No tube or anything. I took it out of the plastic and it was very creased. Two large creases that will not smooth out running vertically and about twenty wrinkles which may or may not come out running horizontally.   Product fine, shipping abysmal

  The map looks just fine, but Amazon shipped it in a plastic bag. With no protection, it arrived badly crushed and bent, completely unusable. Amazon did replace it promptly, but this time used a flimsy cardboard box that still didn't protect it from damage. On a third attempt, also very prompt, they didn't even use the plastic bag, and it was badly damaged again. I appreciate the quick turnaround on the original order and the replacements, but it is absolutely ridiculous that a rolled-up laminated map would be packed for shipping without a protective tube (or without even a box, in two cases).   Good product, poor shipping

  The product arrived quickly, but like other reviewers said, it was simply wrapped in plastic and not protected at all. I was lucky that there were no problems with it. The whole experience is strange, as I accidentally ordered the non-laminated map earlier in the week and it came in a cardboard tube, fully protected as one might expect. Both maps from the same company.I think Amazon.com needs to do a better job with their categorization and sorting.   The map came through amazon in a big box with lots of packing so there wasn't a dent on it. The map itself is very nicely laminated. Since we are a military family I bought it to help my daughter understand that all of our family live in different places and sometimes daddy is on the other side of the world. The lamination allows us to put pictures of family near there locations and move them around when need be. Wish the land areas were a little bigger but no big deal. It serves its purpose well. 4/5 S. As soon as I took off the protective backing it promptly stuck to itself and tore while I tried to disentangle it. Now that it is stuck to the wall where I want it, the tear is almost invisible. It will still readily un-stick from the wall without damaging the paint.The dry-erase feature is even less functional. Erasing requires the use of dry-erase spray, paper towels, patience, and elbow grease.   Nice but smaller than I thought

  I was attracted to this map because of it's write on wipe off ability. Also thought it would be nice that it would stick where I wanted it. But when it got here it was smaller than I hoped but still useable for our family schooling. Also, note that it won't stick to flat painted walls so we placed it on a wide cabinet where it stays just fine. I am thrilled that I can write on it then wipe off.Over all 4 stars. 4/5 C. We did our comparison shopping and this one was the best one we found online.   Beautiful Map

  I love this map! I got it to replace a National Geographic map (black background, brightly colored) and am very happy with the decision. This map uses the Van Der Grinten projection which works well on a large wall map like this. The map is too "bright" for some people -- there is a very similar Terra Nova map available which I believe has more subdued hues, that would be a better choice for someone looking for something more subtle.
