Olympia American Airlines Skyhawk 26-inch is an underdog

In my job, I travel to 3rd world countries for the US Government and I was tired of paying for expensive Samsonite luggage that still ended up getting tore up because 3rd world country air carriers beat up the luggage with methods of transport to move your luggage to the aircraft (unconventional forklifts or manual laborers who drag, throw, crunch, etc.) After I bought one of these Olympia American Airlines Skyhawk 26-inchers, and is still in outstanding condition after enduring over 10 round trips to Africa, I bought myself another one. For the price, it's unbelievable. And it spins in all directions and is lightweight!! Do Not Buy - The Wheels are the WORST after little use

As another reviewer stated in a previous review, the wheels on the Xspace series are the absolute worst. Initially I was singing the praises of this series and still like the features, apparent durable construction and functionality of the suitcase body itself. However, after only 8 months of moderate use the wheels have become useless. They are poorly designed and quickly stopped rolling due to the trash that builds up around the axle. When the wheel stops rolling it turns sideways and scapes the ground instead. Consequently, the wheel wore half of the tread off before I could return from a vacation. To make matters worse, it is impossible to remove the axle and clean off the carpet fibers, dust and dirt keeping the wheels from turning because they are riveted on rather than bolted. The axles are also shielded from access by two large flaps alongside the wheels preventing you from using a small tool to dig the debris out.I contacted Samsonite about the... 2/5 Richard E. The Perfect Size Bag.

This luggage is constructed wonderfully, many outside quick access pockets for extras of quick. The "Mars Red" is a great color that will be easily recognizable among the sea of black checked bag at luggage claim. We are leaving for London in a few weeks in the past trips (Paris & Rome) in the past we have used one large 30 inch bag. But, with the airlines are charging large amounts of money if you go over the weight limit. Having two of this size you can still fill it with plenty of travel items leaving plenty of room for the anything that you may bring home. When looking for a new set of luggage having the spinner wheels was top on the list of features and I will tell you they roll effortless and allow the bag to stand correctly upright... No longer will we be the couple with their luggage always fall over while standing in the lines at the airport. We also just ordered the "Boarding Bag" to go along with this to finish out the set.Samsonite xSpace... 5/5 Jason Matkowsky (Riverside, NJ) - See all my reviews, April 2, 2010

DO NOT BUY! - Wheels Wear-Out After 18 Months

I have owned two of these Samsonite Spinner suitcases. While they appear to be well made and well designed, let me warn you that they will become worthless after 18 months. I suspect the other reviewers have not reached this point yet and hence the plethora of good reviews. The wheels become so worn down that the suitcase tips over. This happened consistently on both suitcases that were purchased independently from different stores. The rest of the suitcase held up just fine.I believe Samsonite has purposefully designed this product so that you are forced to buy a new one. Since the warranty expires, they cannot be held responsible for the supposed "wear and tear" to the wheels. I even looked for replacement wheels to no avail. $200 down the drain...Word of advice, AVOID SPINNER SUITCASES FROM SAMSONITE. 2/5 Mike Z. Perfect option!

I searched long and hard for a suitable luggage option that incorporated adequate capacity, yet portability for an active vacation. My wife and I are traveling to the Cinque Terre in Italy and anticipate some challenging terrain for carrying luggage. I wanted a bag that would convert to a backpack carrying style when needed, but with capacity for a week's worth of travel. We purchased two of these bags just before a recent trip to Cozumel and they were great. We carried all our necessities including snorkel gear! For the seasoned traveler who wants to pack and travel with a single checked bag, this is the perfect option. 5/5 David Dielentheis "drdobg" (Sheboygan, WI USA) - See all my reviews, April 9, 2008

    Perfection for Frequent Flyers

I've been using this bag for about a year now and I have to say it is the best luggage I have ever owned. The multiple handles let you maneuver when you are on the shuttle to the rental car lot or roll with ease to some of the more distant ticket counters, I'm looking at you IAH. The space is more than enough to get to the 50 pound max and the ease of getting to your gear in the bag will let you rearrange if you went over. If you carry tools or cold weather gear the bottom section lets you keep your kit separate from your personal clothes and gives you the top pockets to keep things you will want to access quickly such as your GPS or Inverter. This bag is more than adequate for anything and has served me well. The bags construction is rugged but lightweight and has not taken any damage in the year I have used it.Well made, Great Price, and Utilitarian to the max. This is the only checked bag you need unless you are Stevie Nicks. 5/5 Eric M. Buryn "Alton's Minion" (Louisville Highlands USA) - See all my reviews, January 3, 2010

    Great Adventure Bag

Took this on a safari to Africa, which included several baggage handling episodes at airports, as well as in and out of safari trucks, etc. It held up very well through all of this, with only one seam giving way in one of the pockets (hopefully a minor repair). The other critical thing was since this was a "soft" piece of luggage it was able to fit in places I didn't think it would. As far as the luggage itself, I thought the layout was perfect. I was able to fit enough clothes to accommodate a 2.5 week trip. The shoe compartment was also handy, both because it separated my shoes from my clothes, but also because I was able to gain easy access to them (the shoe department is on the outside/top). Also, because of the "expand" feature, I was also able to pack gifts I got on the road for the trip back. The zippers were strong and sturdy enough to smoosh the bag closed at the end of the trip.Overall, a strong recommendation for any adventure trip. 5/5 mrmatt (Redondo Beach, CA United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) OGIO makes some of the best bags in the world. Their golf bags are well-respected among PGA pros and amateurs alike. In my opinion, they also make some of the best luggage bags. I recently had the opportunity to use the OGIO Invader 26-inch upright luggage bag during a week-long trip and came away very impressed.PROS:- Attractive appearance- Spacious interior and pockets- Durable, 1680 denier polyester exterior- Strategically placed handles for easy lifting- Easy-to-use retractable handle- Smooth in-line skate wheels- Expandable for another two inches of depth- Great overall valueCONS:- Doesn't come with a luggage tagAround the holidays, I began planning for a 6-day trip to Las Vegas for my first Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Well designed and easy to move

I have just completed my first international trip with this suitcase. I consider the 26" a good size for current weight limits (I am a dense packer and anything larger is difficult to keep at 50 lbs).I am impressed with the smooth functioning of the wheel and how the weight is carried on the wheels and not pulling on my arm as I pull the suitcase. This was even more impressive when attached my heavy carry-on (a 20" suitcase at close to 30lb in addition to the 46lb of the 26" suitcase) and the package was still easy to pull and stayed easy to steer and turn (ok, it is kind of chunky --> but it wasn't heavy on me).I used the expansion joint coming home and it was a significant increase in volume. The amazing balance of the suitcase with a piggyback worked with and without the expansion joint. In the past I have found 2 suitcases as a unit to be too heavy for me. Not with this one! The hanger for the 2nd suitcase is included as well as a... 5/5 Kerstin Haug (Greenville, SC United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Travelpro Crew 8 26 Inch Expandable Rollaboard Suiter (Apparel) I have just completed my first international trip with this suitcase. Excellent suitcase!

I've owned several Travelpro suitcases in various sizes, some for many years, and in general they hold up very well to being tossed around by the airline crews. For this reason, when I needed another large suitcase, I chose Travelpro. I was not disappointed with this one! It looks great, feels very well made, and held everything I needed for myself and my two kids under 2 for a week-long vacation. The only feature I'm not wild about is the removable suit sleeve, but that's because I don't tend to carry any "fancy" clothing with me, and so I prefer extra space in the zippered mesh pocket on the inner "lid" of the suitcase, which my other Travelpro suitcases have. This is just a personal preference, so I can't blame Travelpro for it, and I'm sure some would love this suit sleeve.I will say I've bought and returned one Travelpro (not this one!) because I didn't feel its quality was what I expected from Travelpro. Unfortunately, I don't remember which model it... 5/5 R. Galbraith "R. Galbraith" (New Hampshire) - See all my reviews, January 20, 2012

Perfect for luggage for a guest or yourself!

I purchased one of these racks after traveling a great deal last year and realizing how handy the hotel luggage holders are. After using it, I decided to purchase two more for the other bedrooms in our home. Now, guests can unpack or use their suitcase more easily by placing their bag on the rack. We love these! 5/5 C. Smaller than I thought

I thought it would be larger like a hotel rack, but it is still nice. Heavy duty metal and well attached straps. I'm pleased with this item. We have guests coming soon, so I hope it is helpful to them. The nice thing is it will be easy to store. 4/5 C. Stella - See all my reviews, September 24, 2011
