  I really enjoy this item. It is well-designed, durable and spacious. I'm a frequent traveler and needed a suitcase that was not too large, yet spacious on the inside.   Great Suitcase

  I recently bought this for a conference trip to Chicago. I took mainly khakis and button downs. Suitcase worked great, handle felt sturdy, zippers were big and sturdy feeling, suiter worked well even though I didnt even up wearing my suit at all. The expandability of it was nice since I had to bring back the standard vendor swag back from the conference. Wheels are nice and big and smooth too.   Best bag I ever owned except ... it's a bit heavy compared to others. But the upside is that it is excellent quality and it is rather indestructable.   Very nice for a lite vacation

  I selected this suitcase because I have previously had very good results with TravelPro (specifically the Walkabout Lite product line). It is perfect for a little getaway for a couple.   Better than discount stores

  Over the last four years, I have bought several Target and Wal-Mart luggage bags. Most rip, tear, or break on their first trip. I'm tired of damaged luggage and cheap stuff that doesn't survive a week long trip to a foreign country.I found this Travel Pro line at a real luggage store on the recommendation of a friend.I'm impressed with the wear and tear it has absorbed on 8 trips in two months to over 4 countries. I've not yet tried to use it as a carry on, so with all the banging around it does with the luggage handlers and airport transfers, I'm impressed with the quality of the materials.The only maintenance I had to do was screw the foot piece back on.   Didn't make it through the first trip

  I am so disappointed! This is the 6th Rick Steves bag I've purchased in the last 8 years. My first bag traveled dozens of trips internationally and domestically and lasted 6 years. Each bag since has been of lesser quality. One of the hard plastic corners fell off this 24" bag on it's first trip. I am returning it for a refund and looking for a different brand.   Be aware that photos are NOT what you buy!!!

  First the positive: So far this current version of Rick Steves 24 inch roll-about seems to be of reasonably good construction. The prior comments about the handles could be an issue, but I have not experienced their problems yet (albeit I've only had this a couple of days). I have an older 24 inch version, and the old strap like design that went around the entire center outside of the suitcase does appear to be stronger than this newer design. Time will tell! What you do have to be aware of is that Amazon's photos of this 24 inch suitcase is NOT what you are buying. ALL of their photos are of the 21 inch suitcase!!! A careful inspection/comparison shows that the outside side pocket displayed is NOT on the 24 inch delivered item. Also, the extended handle is one section rather than the two sections shown on the webpage. While both the 21 and 24 inch models share many features, if that outside pocket is what you want DON'T buy the 24 inch model! Hopefully Amazon will correct this... 4/5 S.   Broke before we left first time

  We purchased this because we have almost the same bag from a couple of years ago. We were packing for a trip to Europe in 3 days and went to lift it to put on the bed with the side handle and the rivets popped! The bag was only 35 pounds (~16 kilos) at this point - we weigh to stay under the 20 kilo Lufthansa and internal carrier restrictions in Europe. Fortunately, we had 8 days left on the return window. Asking for refund.Checked the design of those connectors of the side handle to what it used to be. There are two significant differences which both seem they would have contributed it to not being reliable when full. The older bag had a strap to which connectors were 'bolted' but it continued length of bag - not just length of handle - to spread the load. Also, the internal connection of the bolt is smaller in diameter - not as broad - also not spreading the weight. Basic physics. Will not buy another - unless this design changes.   I recieved this in 1 day...I don't know how it arrived so quickly. It comes in two pieces. You only need to attach 4 small and three large bolts and you are ready to go. Be sure to get a hitch pin ( sold seperately) I went to Home Depot for mine. This carrier is nice cause it is extra large, very sturdy, but not overly akward to attach. I store mine on 2 recycling bins so that I can easily slide it a bit to adjust for attaching to the hitch. You need a torque wrench ( or a friend who has one ) to secure the 11 bolts. Very simple assembly. This one is the larger size and I'm glad I chose it cause as you will find that in practical use you can haul many more items. I bought wratcheting straps, but the "octopus-style" bungee cords seem to work best for my uses unless you really have a top-heavy or tippy item. I also like the fact that with this one you can add lights...the cutouts are built in the frame.   Good Unit. Bad Packaging. Simple, Big.

  Good:- This unit is bigger than the others. It is 24" wide, when most are 20". I like the extra space for holding those plastic boxes.- Arrived fast- Seems strong enough, looks good enough- Weighs 60lb. Easy to carry by rails with one person and lots of space. For tight areas, may be better with two people.Not so good:- Shipping box, as others have said, seems inadequate. My UPS guy apologized and said I might want to inspect the package. I told him it's OK, the thing is strong metal, won't be broken but will be scratched. No big deal, since it's not fragile, but it should be better.Assembly:- Very easy, I thought. BUT, you are asked to provide a torque wrench - and not just any torque wrench. I have two, and one only goes up to 45 ft-lbs. Only my heavy-duty torque wrench can handle the 75 ft-lbs required by the 3 big bolts of this carrier.   Hold on Nuvi, We are Going for a Ride !! !!

  After doing hours of research for a dash mount for my Garmin Nuvi 205w, I decided to give this one a try, and so glad that I did. I looked at the bean bag one and this one, and really wanted a smaller footprint and less bulky mount to put up on my dash. I was concerned about this mount and it rolling, flipping, or tumbling off the dash. To my surprise and delight it never moved !! I have tried it in both of our cars, even used it in the van for our vacation. Fits all three and sits there holding it's position. Some have made notes about a residue that is left behind, I experienced this in 2 of our vehicles, but when I cleaned the car and wiped the dash down, the `residue' was gone. Most likely from the silicone bottom on the mount that holds it in place. Love the flexibility and the fact that you can bent this mount to contour to your dash, and then the swivel mount allows you to adjust the Garmin to see it at any angle.   Got it to replace the Garmin bean bag friction mount.   Tough little boxes!

  I have two of these boxes, both purchased from K-Mart several years apart, each one was 20 bucks. The first one I picked up in Tallahassee in 1993 to throw in the back of my pickup for extra storage. It is now 2006, some 13 years later, and that first box is still in great condition even after traveling thousands of miles all over the southeast in the back of four different pickups over the years. The only thing noticeable about the physical appearance of both boxes is the sun will quickly fade the red handles to a whitish-pink.These are tough boxes, but for some reason hard to find in the store any more.I most definitely recommend this box. I would be nice if it had wheels, though.----------Update, 13 July 2008: these boxes are $24.99 at Wal-Mart! Also, one of my boxes has developed a slight leak. If it is in my truckbed and it is raining I might find water inside the box (not always, but it happens).   Iraq bound

  I took this from FT. Bliss to Iraq and so far it has held up 10X better then those flimsy foot lockers that they sell at the exchange. definately worth every penny.   Great for airline travel

  I use these instead of luggage and I have NEVER had anything break inside. I have carried ceramics and glass items. These are great and sturdier than the Contico trunks, they bruise and sometimes the hinges are damaged if they take a direct hit, these Action Packers don't have that problem since the lid comes completely off. The plastic is also sturdier than the Contico trunks.The only disadvantage is that they don't have wheels and you have to rely on carts at the airport if you use them as luggage but most if not all airports have carts. As you can tell I am a big fan of these things. You won't be disappointed if you get one and they last "forever" (I've never had one rupture/break/crack).Edited 11/08/2010.
