    Cute toy!

Didn't actually buy this as a toy, which explains some of the ratings above - but bought it as a gift to attach a Carnival cruise gift card to. It was a hit! Wasn't too expensive and feels very sturdy, so worked perfectly for what I needed it for. Not sure how fun this would be for a child as a toy - it's cute, and I assume it floats, but I guess it would be fun in the pool! 4/5 Ali T "SC girl" (South Bend, IN) - See all my reviews = Durability:, June 12, 2011

    Great bathtub toy.

My 4 year old son loves this, and no bath is complete without it. We recently went on a Carnival cruise and he asked for a toy cruise ship with a whale's tail on it for his birthday. Even though this doesn't have the detail of a more dimensional hard toy ship, I thought he would like the fact that it can actually go in the tub or the pool. Also, it is more easily portable when deflated, so he can take it everywhere. All the other toy Carnival cruiseship models I looked at were hard, with sharp edges and points, delicate and not really made for putting in water, hence this suits our needs perfectly. 5/5 rubina rahman - See all my reviews = Durability:, May 17, 2011

    Fascinating but sad, too

I really enjoyed this book, because the author's personal experience brought a great deal of authenticity to the story. On the other hand, it was really disturbing to learn just how seriously cruise line employees are exploited and even mistreated. I absolutely love to cruise, and I don't think I will ever feel the same about it after reading this book. I knew that crew members work 12 to 14 hour days for up to 8 months without a real day off, but it was truly eye-opening to learn about the horrendous conditions endured by those who live below the public decks. Things like windowless rooms, continuous vibration from engines and thrusters, bleak living spaces that sound more like shared closets than rooms, serious overcrowding, and a complete lack of personal space or privacy are the norm in this former Officer's experience. Much of the book is about sexual liaisons, however temporary, and a mind-boggling amount of excessive drinking. It's as if the ship's employees swing... 4/5 Cruisecrazy - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) He's not an Officer

First of all let's understand that Mr. Herring is, and always has, presented himself to be much more of an expert than he really is.On passenger ship there are three categories. Officers, staff, and crew.An officer on a ship needs to have a license issued by a recognized national authority in order to hold their position onboard, namely deck officers, engineering and electrical officers, radio officers (a dying breed) and medical officers. Most have attended specialized training, colleges or universities in order to pass the examination requirements to receive their license.Mr. Herring was an IT technician. A staff member. No marine training, no license. And even as the IT Manager, he wouldn't have been considered a "Senior" anything onboard any ship I sailed on.Yes, I too sailed on passengers ships. Twelve years. As a real officer. Five years as Master. For the majority of staff, live onboard is a big party. Alaska Carnival cruise ship memory

I enjoyed completing this Carnival cruise ship 3D puzzle, which looks more like a detailed model ship, which is nice. It only took me a couple afternoons, and there's no messy glue or painting. Just snap the pieces together. The life boats don't seem to fit snugly, so I might glue them in. Otherwise, it reminds me very much of the Carnival Spirit I cruised on to Alaska. What a great memory. I wish they's make an SS United States 3D puzzle like this. The SSUS is the biggest ocean liner built in the U.S. and is the fastest ever, at about 40 kph.I sailed on her back in 1967. It was taken out of service in 1969, and has been sitting and rusting ever since. The SSUS conservancy is trying to save this ship. If you're interested, take a look at their website. 4/5 C. A fun puzzle for cruisers

I was lucky ennough to take several vacations onboard a cruise ship. I always had a great vacation so i bought this puzzle inpart nostalgic, in part because i like puzzles. That said the pieces fit together very well, it was fun to assemble. I wouldn't really say this was a toy, more of a project. 4/5 Gary Roelli (Shullsburg, Wisconsin USA) - See all my reviews, November 25, 2011

Just returned from a cruise, this book really helped me out.

I purchased this book a couple of weeks ago for tips on how to save money on my upcoming cruise. Well,I just returned from that cruise on the Crown Princess and am happy to report that the information in this book was suprisingly helpful. I wasn't expecting anything earth shattering when I ordered so it was a pleasant suprise that this guide contained as much information as it did.I decided to go with the low-risk methods instead of any of the extreme methods detailed in the book, since I wanted to play things pretty safe. But, even with being conservative I would estimate I saved roughly 200 dollars off what my bill normally would be (about 25%). I imagine if I really wanted to go all in and use the really involved methods I could probably increase my savings to about 50 or 60 percent. As far as the star rating goes I am going to give a review of 4 stars, but only because there is no option for 4.5 stars. The reason I can't go with the full 5 star is... 4/5 C. M. R. (East Coast, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Unique way of saving money

With the way this economy is, everyone is looking for ways to cut expenses and keep more money in their pockets. This book is by Seth Lieber does a great job of helping people who take cruise vacations do just that.Every year I go on a cruise and it seems like every year it gets just a bit more expensive so I am always on the look for ways to cut costs. With air fare constantly increasing and the price of the cruise also going up there aren't many places where you can save money; you either have to stop drinking or skip the casino to stay on budget. In the past I have tried to bring my own alcohol onto the cruise ship and have had success but always had anxiety. My techniques weren't nearly as sophisticated as those mentioned in here. While some of the concepts discussed in "BYOB" are common sense many of them are things that normal people wouldn't even think of. The best part is many of the methods he talks about aren't even against the rules, they just aren't well... 5/5 Wounded Knee Chief "Sam" (Yellowstone, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: B.Y.O.B. - How to Sneak Alcohol Onto a Cruise Ship and other ways of reducing your bar tab (Kindle Edition) With the way this economy is, everyone is looking for ways to cut expenses and keep more money in their pockets. A fun read

I don't drink or cruise so why on earth would I buy and rate this book?First up the book was a limited time freebie and secondly, I love reading about hacks and tricks that other people get up to. The book didn't disappoint in this respect. It's a quick breezy read and you really get a bit of a glimpse of the dedicated cruiser's attempts to circumnavigate the various companies' alcohol policies. I can't judge the tactics myself but they even made me laugh in a couple of places as they are quite ingenious. Two minor points: I'm sure non-US based cruisers would appreciate something similar which is more localised and I really hope the author hasn't used their real name as I suspect their luggage will come in for more detailed scrutiny next time they go cruising. A fun recommended read. 4/5 The Hamster Factor - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) a must-have for travel

Saved TONS of money on a cruise by packing our own...it's lightweight design and small mini flasks allowed us to carry it anywhere and refill with the larger flasks as needed back in the room. We still use them if we need to bring liquor to a party etc. I have two designer flasks (Ed Hardy leather and Neiman's swarovski crystal studded) yet I still wind up carrying the rum runner ones instead...easy to fill, carry, and they hold more and are lightweight! I have passed the recommendation on to many travelers!Oh, as for the plastic factor of it...it's amazingly firm. We packed them all, full, and they went through 2 flights in 4 different suitcases with not a leak and then a few were still full on our return flights and made it home just fine. Our shampoo bottle made of heavy plastic got crushed and leaked (we have soft sided luggage) but these did not. We packed them in different bags wondering if the cruise's xray machine would have them show up on one and they'd ask for... 5/5 Chandler - See all my reviews, May 26, 2009

    Great product...but!

I recently purchased the Rum Runner Cruise Kits and used two of the 16 oz. containers to carry wine in my checked bags. I think that the product is a great idea and a safer way to carry liquids that are only available in glass bottles. However, one of the plastic containers did leak, and if I hadn't enclosed them in ziploc bags as a precaution, some of my belongings might have been damaged. I would still recommend this product and intend to continue using mine...along with the added security of ziploc bags. 4/5 John... Rum Runners ROCK!!!

I never write reviews, but had to spread the word in this case.
