    A great set!

I got this toy when I was 6 years old and now I am 10 and it is still in great condition. The trucks are a little big for the plane, but I don't mind. I play with this set by building an airport on my kitchen floor, using the cones, signs, and trucks in the set. I play with these planes so much, my mom lets me keep the airport up for 3 weeks or more. I have 16 different kinds of airplane sets. All the sets are real fun to play with, and I love them! 5/5 mnlitig8r (Minneapolis, MN, USA) - See all my reviews = Durability:, October 5, 2010

    Not good, not bad

The planes are a bit smaller than we thought, so the price now seems a little high for what it is. Other than that it is exactly as advertised. 3/5 0, February 25, 2008

stickers start peeling off, but mostly solidly built

my plane crazed 4 year old asked specifically for Alaska Air and Southwest, and this was an inexpensive toy I could buy without thinking twice. it has lasted for several months (the southwest lost a tail wing, which i was able to glue back with superglue), except for broken nose-gear (wheels). the one annoying aspect of this cheap toy is that all surface details are just stickers, and they started peeling off rather quickly. you get what you pay for i guess... 4/5 B. Poor details- Stickers

I purchased this as an aviation enthusiast, expecting some decent details. The plane is decorated with stickers, that were put on crookedly. The details on the plane aren't that amazing on the stickers anyways. I would not recommend this unless it was going to a young child. Jeminy Jets makes good models. 3/5 kyle - See all my reviews = Durability:, October 21, 2011

    Alaska Airlines

Bought this to replace the plane we purchased from Juneau Int'l Airport. My 5 year old loves these planes. He studies them and plays with them. He runs them through the dirt, plays with them in the bath and they've held up. 4/5 adie - See all my reviews = Durability:, October 17, 2011

    Alaska Airlines History

I was curious to know more about Alaska Airlines history, having lived in Juneau, Alaska the last 13 years and having become accustomed to either flying with Alaska Air or taking the ferry to get out of town. The book is a tale of two Alaska Airlines: the floundering, one step away from oblivion company from founding by Linious McGee to the Charles Willis era; and the modern era from Ronald Cosgrave to current CEO Bill Ayer. Serling is at his best in telling the story of Alaska's first 50 years. His research is superb, and the reader gets a good idea of what it must have been like to build the airline in such a tough climate. When Serling moves beyond Willis' reign, one begins to sense that the airline (which commissioned this book) leadership contributed a lot of detail and not as much came from outside sources. In the end, I enjoyed Serling's rather informal style, and felt that I came to know Alaska Airlines and its "characters" a little bit better. Since I know Alaska Airlines as... 4/5 T. True historical read about the "little airline that could"

At first I thought this book would be a typical corporate tome, but nothing could be further from the truth. Well researched, well written and fun to read, I found out things I'd never known about this great airline since I first began flying them in 1985 upon relocating to Seattle. There are times when you read about the early days (up through the early 70s) and you swear the company doesn't deserve to still be in business. It's a great testament to the employees as well as to management (more to employees). It is honestly written--worts and all.Kudos to Alaska's exeutive management team for giving Bob Serling full access and for being so candid with him--some of it ain't pretty. I worked as a contractor in corporate communications for three months this spring and I can say the team is as ethical, caring and well meaning day in and day out as is reflected in the book. What a breath of fresh air in this day and age of greediness and deceit. Enjoy the "Spirit of... 5/5 Pam Miller "Avid Reader/Happy Flier" (Sammamish, WA) - See all my reviews, August 19, 2008

    Comendable Honesty

Reading this book made me proud of Alaska Airlines. The company commissioned its publication. It had some extremely interesting insight in to the management of the company, particularly post 1972. Like all firms in the aviation business, there have been several instances in the last 26 years where the survival of the firm was clearly at stake. It is made clear that Alaska Airlines only exists today as a result of some very bold decisions made at key times. Countless cases are described where management showed great creativity, integrity, compassion, courage, and brilliance. Equally important, the book describes many instances where company management failed to uphold the values described above and in some cases engaged in behavior and made decisions that were truly shameful. Few of us in this world are saints and it is very boring when people try to potray themselves as such. If this book had failed to describe some of the low points in the airline management's history, it would... 4/5 Samuel B. Adventure Past , Present & Future....

This is not only a historical account of the Alaskan Airlines but a story about the lives of the people who carved out a dream in an unforgiving wilderness. The organization's culture reflects the personalities, values, and experiences of the people, past and present, which built this company. The author takes you back in history to the early 1930's through the eyes of the first pilots who dared to fly the Alaskan wilderness. Their courage, strong determination, and refusal to accept failure built the founding principles of the organization we know today. Satterfield provides the reader a vivid historic depiction of the evolution of air travel, the Alaskan Airlines, the people, and their place in Alaska's history. 5/5 p wilhelm (Springfield, MO USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: The Alaska Airlines Story (Paperback) This is not only a historical account of the Alaskan Airlines but a story about the lives of the people who carved out a dream in an unforgiving wilderness. Must Have for fans of a soon to be extinct aircraft

I'm a big fan of aviation. A flightsimaholic who owns most of the modern and classic aircraft on payware software for Flightsim 2004 and FSX. This video is well done and since it deals with Alaska Airlines it is unique with the particular destinations only they fly. The previous review was critical on too much cockpit chatter but I found this very needful and entertaining. This is a long video which is why it has the time to listen to the pilots who actually fly the aircraft. If the video only delt with the aircraft as a technical and informational overview I would have found that boring. You get to know the pilots and their experience from a personal level. This DVD takes you to the very last flight for the 737-200 model with Alaska Airlines. Very nostalgic and historical documentary covering operations in extreme cold weather and travel to very unique and remote airports. This is a must have for aviation enthusiast. If you have the interest and devotion to aviation (that not all... 5/5 Timothy C. Murphy "tim737murphy" (Columbia, TN) - See all my reviews, June 22, 2008

    Average - just average

After reading reviews on this in Airways Magazine and other magazines, I finally purchased this DVD. It doesn't live up to the hype. Of course, I broke my number one rule when it comes to reviews: I bought it. Normally, unless I can see an item reviewed with my own eyes, I don't buy it based solely upon a review in a magazine that also sells what it reviews. While the outdoor shots of the 737-200QC are interesting, too much of the video is taken with views of the pilots talking. They should have used the pilots' speeches as background while filming the rest of the aircraft. The second disc is mostly a rehash of selected segments of the main disk. 3/5 David M.
